Referendum on EU now say local Lib Dems
Local Lib Dem campaigners are calling for a ‘real referendum’ on Britain’s membership of the European Union.
East Hants Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate, Adam Carew said, “It’s been over thirty years since the British public had a vote on this issue. It’s time to give local people the chance to have their say.”
The Liberal Democrats are the only party calling for a referendum on whether Britain stays in Europe.
Labour don’t want to give the public any say on Europe.
The Conservatives are hopelessly split on whether Britain should even be in the EU at all. Conservative leader David Cameron has called for a vote on the Lisbon Treaty, but doesn’t want to give the public a proper referendum on EU membership.
Adam said, “Many Conservatives MPs would vote to pull out of Europe tomorrow - even though it would be a disaster for our economy and our country.
“How can we tackle global threats like terrorism and climate change if we are alone outside Europe?”
